Migration in the Mediterranean

The Central Mediterranean region has claimed the lives of countless people seeking a better life, opportunities and prosperity beyond its borders. Regarded as the world’s largest graveyard, the Mediterranean Sea is becoming an underwater cemetery where boats struggle to stay afloat, even in another, even more dangerous sea of racism and misunderstanding.

It is there, in this social sea, that education is essential and where the work of rescue organisations such as Open Arms they can also, out of the water, to prevent those seeking a better life from being swept away.

Since it was founded in 2015, Open Arms has rescued around 70,000 people, so today we are delighted to invite Generación EDTECH to Ángeles Schjaer, Coordinator of the Open Arms Education Department through which we will set out on the journey of someone undertaking this voyage and get to know their approach on how the education It can be the driving force behind social change.
