To talk about Web Accessibility means talking about universal access to the Web, regardless of the type of hardware, software, network infrastructure, language, culture, geographical location and users’ capabilities. It was with this concept of accessibility in mind that the Web Accessibility Initiative was launched, known as WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative). This is an initiative developed by the W3C, the aim of which is to facilitate access for people with disabilities by developing accessibility guidelines, improving tools for assessing and rectifying web accessibility issues, and carrying out educational and awareness-raising work regarding the importance of accessible web design, and breaking new ground in accessibility through research in this field.
