Myths surrounding autism
‘Ignorance’ is the word that best describes the reality surrounding Autism Spectrum Disorder. In Spain, 1 in every 100 people have this condition as these are the only data for which there is evidence.
In this regard, there are myths about their origin or treatment which have led to these people being mistakenly regarded as ill.
«Autism is a condition you are born with and, as such, there is no cure. Thanks to research, therapies and early intervention, the effects of the condition are becoming less debilitating, but it is not a disease.»
These are the words of the expert in neuropsychology and early-life care from the Asociación Autismo Granada, the second guest on this second series of Generación EdTech. In this episodeWe will get to know people with ASD very closely, and learn about the different types of autism or the importance of early childhood care to improve their lives.
