Angeles Schjaer opens the new season by analyzing the migration crisis
So far this year, more than 31,000 people have risked their lives to enter Spain in search of a future. In total, this figure represents more than 12,000 people compared to 2023, 66.2% more than the previous period.
“When you leave family and friends behind and decide to risk your life in such a dangerous way, obviously you have to be very desperate to do that. And it’s not just the desperation of the person who emigrates, it’s also the desperation of the family who is left waiting to hear from that person.”
These are the words of the coordinator of the Education Department of Open Arms, Ángeles Schjaer, the first guest of this second season of Generación Edtech. With the protagonist of this first program we will embark on the journey of a person who makes this journey and we will know her approach on how education can be the engine of social change.
“At Open Arms we talk about migration as something natural, not as a problem. We also deal with issues such as fake news or the use of language, because it is fundamental.”
