Equality

Today at Generación EdTech we moved to the Ciudad Deportiva de Maracena (Granada) to chat with the players and coach of the Maracena Women’s Indoor Soccer team: Marta Aguilera, Aida Cano and Iván Márquez.

They are the best to raise the strategy of equality and diversity on the field, so in this conversation we will review the achievements so far, made very visible thanks to the Women’s National Football Team, but also all the challenges and opportunities that remain to achieve real equality not only in futsal, but in any other sport.

So today, on the EDUCA EDTECH Foundation podcast, we score a goal on inequality.

“Hey, the space we have is cool, it’s comfortable, it’s friendly, you’re going to meet other people, you’re going to be able to have breakfast there. You have all the resources you need for whatever you need, a comfortable space for you to be the one who decides to come to the office.”
And in some ways, on Mondays it’s more complicated, but as the week goes on, it’s true that it’s happening.
We are starting to see people asking for the civics that are asking: “Hey, let’s find a space where we want to be and be able to socialize”.
And it’s funny, huh?
You were anticipating this trend of wanting to see each other again.
I think it’s unlearning what we learned during the pandemic.
We are noticing that we have people all over Spain, like them, and we only have the office in Granada, but people want to get together again.

So, for example, in leadership training we have made an experiment, a fun budget so that when they are here for trainings or for the typical summer party, winter party, they use that budget to do other things together, like they go bowling, or the other day they went to the axe thing.
I said, that axe thing is a little dangerous.
And what’s the axe thing?
There’s a bar, a pub, where you can throw axes, basically.
Don’t tell that to the risk prevention guy, we didn’t say that; that’s outside of work directly.
But in the end, like if you talk to each other on Teams or Google, it’s one thing; but the desire or the need for another department is different.
But as soon as you have a drink or do an event, you humanize the person.

2×06 | The challenges of a happy childhood in the age of hyperconnectedness, with UNICEF

In the smile of a child, of a girl, infinite possibilities are hidden; in the longing of her bright eyes await futures that we cannot even imagine today, and even less so in these times of uncertainty. Childhood is, for those of us who were lucky enough to live it happily, a refuge to which we always return and which we remember with affection and, why not, with a touch of nostalgia. But that happy childhood is not guaranteed, neither in the world nor, of course, in Spain. That is where the work of UNICEF comes in, possibly one of the best known agencies of the United Nations, which is concerned with defending the rights of children around the world.

2×05 | Climate Change Myths and Little Lies

It could be said that we live in the information age, at a time when anyone, from their cell phone, can consult any data or learn about any subject. One might think that at such a time, everyone would be perfectly informed about one of the greatest challenges facing humanity, Climate Change; however, the reality is different, precisely because today it is as easy to spread information as it is to spread misinformation, myths or lies. And in a subject as sensitive as Climate Change, there are many myths to combat.

At EdTech Generation, as you know, we address issues that are of general interest, from mental health to education, including, as we are doing today, sustainability. And the fact is that… there are very few challenges we face as a society, more important than Climate Change. Some are already calling it a Climate Emergency. No wonder, because the effects of global climate change are becoming more and more intense in every corner of the world, from increasingly prolonged droughts to more intense climatic disasters such as hurricanes or fires.
