Myths surrounding autism

Ignorance is the word that best describes the reality around the Autism Spectrum Disorder. In Spain 1 out of every 100 people have this condition being only these data those of which there is evidence.

In this regard, there are myths about their origin or treatment that have led these people to be erroneously considered as ill.

“Autism is a condition you are born with and as such there is no cure. Thanks to research, therapies and early care those sequelae are increasingly disabling, but it is not a disease.”

These are the words of the expert in neuropsychology and early care of Asociación Autismo Granada, second guest of this second season of Generación EdTech. In this episodewe will get to know very closely the person with the condition of ASD, the different types of autism or the importance of early care to improve their lives.

“Sheldon Cooper from Big Band Theory or The Good Doctor are examples we can associate with high-functioning autism. There is as much diversity in the spectrum as there can be people.”
