We are delighted to announce the arrival of Advisory Committee on Academic Innovation by Dr Florencio Vicente Castro, Professor of Psychology at the University of Extremadura, who specialises in developmental and positive psychology, and who offers a highly valuable perspective on the intersection between science, education and technology.

Dr Vicente Castro has a solid academic background which underpins his work as a professor of Psychology at the University of Extremadura, and which establishes him as a leading figure in the fields of developmental and educational psychology. Furthermore, he also holds a degree in Social Sciences and Social Work, providing a combination of disciplines that forms an interdisciplinary profile which aligns perfectly with the Foundation’s values and brings a broader and more critical perspective to the various projects.
Among his early achievements, it is worth highlighting his work as a researcher in the academic field, as editor of various prestigious academic journals, and as supervisor of highly significant doctoral theses, such as research into the quality of life of older people.
Career and key contributions
Dr Vicente Castro’s professional career has been spent in the university sector, combining research, teaching and academic management. His research has focused on areas such as developmental psychology, educational inclusion, quality of life across the life course, and learning processes in diverse contexts.
He is also editor of the *International Journal of Developmental and Educational Psychology*, whose main areas of research are developmental psychology and positive psychology.
Another of his key contributions relates to his role as president of the National Association of Psychology for Children, Adolescents, Older People and People with Disabilities (INFAD).
He has received various awards and honours throughout his professional career, including the Juan Huarte de San Juan Prize and the Confederation of Achondroplasia Award, as well as the award for Outstanding Work in Support of People with Achondroplasia from the ALPE Foundation. Also worth noting are his roles as a member of the Advisory Council on Honours and Distinctions of the Regional Government of Extremadura, a project assessor for the Ministry of Education and Science (MEC), a member of the Evaluation Committee of the Balearic Islands University Quality Agency, and a member of the Evaluation Committee of the FCT in Portugal.
