It is with great enthusiasm that we introduce one of the members of the Advisory Committee on Academic Innovation<\/a> from the EDUCA EDTECH Foundation, Dr Aitor Curiel L\u00f3pez de Arcaute, a specialist in legal and forensic medicine, criminologist and criminal investigator, who brings a rigorous and transformative scientific perspective and whose career combines science, teaching and technology.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Education and early achievements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dr Aitor Curiel began his training by studying for a degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Valladolid, which enabled him to lay the foundations of his knowledge in that field, which he has subsequently applied to the field of forensic medicine.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To complement his skills, he studied for a degree in Criminology at the University of Alicante, before going on to complete a PhD with a thesis entitled \u201cEarprints as a method of human identification: scientific and legal validity in Spain\u201d <\/em>in 2009, which was rated as \u201coutstanding\u2019 \u201c\u201dCum Laude\u2019<\/em>, which reflects their academic excellence.  <\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He subsequently continued his training in various fields of legal and forensic medicine and criminology, establishing himself as a well-rounded and up-to-date professional who, thanks to his career and expertise, brings significant value to the Foundation.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Career and key contributions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In the academic sphere, Dr Curiel began his career as a lecturer and researcher, working at various universities, including the University of Granada, Rey Juan Carlos University and the University of Valladolid, amongst others.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the field of research, he has established himself as the creator and pioneer of the fingerprint as a method of identification, a subject he explored in his doctoral thesis.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accordingly, his outreach and academic work has been reflected in the numerous conferences, presentations, seminars, publications and advanced courses he has led in these fields, thereby demonstrating his technical and communication skills, including awards such as the Gold Medal for Academic and Professional Merit from the International Institute of Applied Criminalistics, amongst others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vision and contribution to the Foundation\u2019s project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The EDUCA EDTECH Foundation is committed to integrating educational technology with a vision focused on social impact, taking an interdisciplinary approach and acting in an ethical manner.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this in mind, Dr Curiel\u2019s background brings the following to the Foundation:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Within the Foundation, he will play a key role, primarily in one of its areas of focus \u2013 applied research and scientific partnerships \u2013 with a view to fostering collaboration with universities and research centres.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In short, Dr Curiel brings a fantastic combination of research, teaching, technological vision and social commitment to the EDUCA EDTECH Foundation. We are confident that his appointment to the Advisory Committee for Academic Innovation will enhance the positive impact of our programmes and enrich the educational community we are currently building.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
