Last Sunday 9 November, EDUCA EDTECH Group, together with the Foundation, organised a reforestation day in collaboration with Huella Verde de Granada, an association committed to sustainability and aiming to make Granada the Green Capital by 2031, and with IDEA Servicios, a company providing educational, cultural and environmental services.
The activity carried out as part of the Granada’s Green Belt, a project covering 60 hectares, the aim of which is restore the Mediterranean ecosystem and to create a natural space that brings life, oxygen and colour to the surroundings. Through this project, the EDUCA EDTECH Foundation is reinforcing its commitment to the environment, demonstrating that sustainability is built through action and not just ideas.

Commitment to sustainability

Leaving the digital world behind, staff at EDUCA EDTECH Group swapped their keyboards for hoes and their meetings for conversations amongst the trees. Throughout the morning, those present learnt about reforestation and ecological restoration processes.
The day took place in an atmosphere of collaboration, learning and emotional connection. For many, it was an opportunity to fto strengthen the sense of belonging y to connect with the foundation’s values, bearing in mind that real impact is achieved when ideas are put into action.
Every person, every seed and every small act contributed to creating a little green lung that will help Granada breathe more easily.

Diversity as a value and as a way of life: 27 new trees

During the day, one was planted a wide variety of species native to the Mediterranean forest. These include holm oaks, wild olive trees, gall oaks, carob trees, hawthorns, lavender, rosemary, wild roses, mastic trees, esparto grass and more. In total, around twenty-seven different species, all of them young — between one and two years old — which, over time, will form a balanced and resilient ecosystem.
The experts explained that this diversity is not just an ecological choice, but a philosophy: a diverse ecosystem is a more resilient and stable ecosystem. If one species suffers, another may thrive, ensuring the forest’s survival. They also learnt the difference between sowing and planting and that the participatory ecological restoration It is not just about reforestation, but about to breathe new life into the land, the countryside and the community that lives there.

Thanks to the trees that make up the EDUCA EDTECH Forest, in the coming years (once they reach their juvenile stages), it is estimated that they will remove an average of 150–200 kg of CO₂* annually, which is equivalent to offsetting the annual emissions of a small car travelling between 900 and 1,500 km a year, on average.

*Under normal conditions in the Mediterranean ecosystem.

Learning and connections

The event was attended by numerous employees accompanied by their children, who had the opportunity to plant their first tree. This intergenerational interaction provided added educational value, reinforcing the idea that the future is sown in the present.
The families not only planted trees, but also symbolic roots in the community and the land. As one of the participants pointed out, “When we talk about impact, it’s not just about figures or digital projects, but about leaving a real, green and living mark”

An initiative that goes beyond CSR

The Bosque EDUCA EDTECH It stands as an example of shared responsibility and consistency between the organisation’s corporate values and its actions. The EDUCA EDTECH Foundation thus reaffirms its vision of integrating innovation, sustainability and education, demonstrating that global change begins with small local gestures.
The initiative also fosters emotional bonds between participants, who, through planting, learn the value of caring for and preserving nature. Just like the taproots of the trees now growing in the forest, this experience strengthens the team’s roots in its environment and its mission. This project reflects the vision of the company and the foundation: to combine innovation and sustainability, knowledge and action.

The EDUCA EDTECH Foundation, committed to the planet

The EDUCA EDTECH Foundation expressed his gratitude for the support and commitment of Granada’s Green Footprint for their technical support and their work to raise environmental awareness. He also highlighted the voluntary participation of staff and their families, whose enthusiasm was key to the success of the event.
The newly planted forest will be looked after and visited regularly, as a symbol of the foundation’s ongoing commitment to environmental education and sustainable development. Because it is not just about planting trees; it is about planting a future, planting values and planting a sense of community.
At the EDUCA EDTECH Foundation, we will continue to join forces to ensure that every action becomes a firm step towards a more sustainable world. Because we know that True progress is that which respects and protects life.

El Bosque EDUCA EDTECH ya es una realidad.
