Sustainability is no longer an option; it is a necessity that affects both businesses and individuals. In our latest interview in EdTech Generation<\/a><\/strong>, Guillem Bargall\u00f3, Head of Sustainability at IKEA<\/a> Catalonia offers us an in-depth insight into how small actions can bring about big changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00abSustainability is already part of many people\u2019s lives, but we need to be more aligned\u00bb<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Bargall\u00f3 points out that although environmental awareness has grown enormously in recent years, there is still a gap between intentions and actual actions<\/strong>. According to him, many companies still view sustainability as a regulatory obligation rather than as an opportunity to spearhead a much-needed change<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the interview, Bargall\u00f3 emphasised that you don\u2019t need to be a multinational to make a difference. \u201cCreating a positive working environment, looking after your team and making responsible decisions in your day-to-day work is already a big step towards sustainability<\/strong>\u201d. This approach emphasises the immediate, day-to-day impact, debunking the notion that only major changes create value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00abThe circular economy is the future, but it requires collective commitment\u00bb<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At IKEA, circular design is key to reducing its environmental footprint. Bargall\u00f3 explains how reuse, repair and waste reduction are cornerstones of its strategy. However, he adds that these practices must be complemented by a shift in consumer mindset: \u201cIt\u2019s not about consuming more, but about consuming better<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00abOur planet is our home, and looking after it means looking after ourselves\u00bb<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With its innovative approach, IKEA supports projects such as the restoration of Do\u00f1ana and the promotion of the circular economy in Spain, making it clear that sustainability is not only part of its DNA, but also part of its social commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
